In Coventry on the 9th October 2023 – Aubrey Allen, a leading name in the local and national culinary scene, opened their doors in a groundbreaking initiative that will captivate food enthusiasts and sustainability advocates alike.
On Monday the 9th October 2023, Aubrey Allen unveiled their exciting transformation, turning their warehouse into a sustainable-themed pub for a unique and memorable day of culinary exploration in the newly named “The Aubrey’s Arms”.
This innovative event drew in a crowd of over 6o chefs from around the country to the pop up pub. Aubrey Allen has always been known for its commitment to providing high-quality meats and exceptional service and last Monday, they took their passion for sustainability to the next level by creating a one-of-a-kind experience for their loyal customers and newcomers.
Delivery pallets were converted into pub walls and market stalls, with over 20 members of the Aubrey Allen team working hard to make this possible with some of the butchers swapping knives for tools after hours.
The bustling atmosphere as guests arrived, soon made the staged set up feel like a real pub as people sat on bar stools and stood at the bar to wait for the event to begin. Run by brother and sister team, Russell and Lucianne Allen, this family business gave them a day to remember.
The chefs enjoyed a tour of the unit, an inspiring demonstration by one of their award winning master craftsman as well as a close look at the top 1% of beef in the country as it slowly matured to perfection in their dry ageing fridges.
A return to the pub for a pint or two from local brewer, Empress Ales and an insightful cheese tasting from two of the country’s leading cheese suppliers : Lincolnshire Poacher and Fen Farm Dairy who farm in a regenerative way.
Lucianne then revealed the Allen Street Market, styled on a traditional street market with 7 stalls where chefs could peruse and taste and finally spend their Aubrey’s pounds at the butchers to get themselves some goodies to take away whilst a traditional lunch was served in the pub.
The well loved Midlands celebrity chef, Sat Bains rounded off the day beautifully. Guests enjoyed hearing his stories of running a two star michelin restaurant for almost 19 years in Nottingham. There was a definite cooing of ah around the warehouse, when Sat spoke about love being the secret ingredient in cooking with a lot of thought provoking insights through the laughter.
Aubrey Allen is dedicated to sustainability not only on this special day but in their day-to-day operations as well. They have implemented numerous eco-friendly practices, including reducing food waste, using compostable packaging, installing solar panels and sourcing products from local farmers and producers committed to sustainable practices.
