Matt Davies, BCF vice president, shortlisted in The Burnt Chef Project Awards

Matt Davies, BCF vice president and multi-award-winning chef has been nominated in the Inspirational Story category in The Burnt Chef Project Awards.

The awards recognise and reward incredible businesses and individuals who are spearheading wellbeing within their organisations and places of work.

Almost seven years ago, Matt had a tragic accident at work and suffered severe burns and loss of the use of his arm. Due to the nature of his injuries, he was treated by Burns and Plastics Surgeon, Colonel Mark Foster at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, and after more than 60 operations so far, he has unable to return to the job he loves.

Matt is shortlisted along with Lauren McCormick, Sommar Brewing Co.; Kisha Washington, Cookzcreed Foundation; Jose Jesus Monterio, Pentahotel Reading; Sophie Hyam, Culinary Bites with Sophie.

The Burnt Chef Project was set up in 2019 with the aim to stop the mental health stigma within the hospitality industry through education and awareness. The organisation also provides support to those who may be struggling with their wellbeing.
